WHO WE ARE
The history of Torrione is not easy to reconstruct. From an epigraph dating back to 1595 it is known that the structure has undergone numerous renovations. As the bulwark of the Santa Croce Gate, of medieval origin, the "Street of Italy" opened and led from the Trento to Verona. The first changes were made by Cardinal Ludovico Madruzzo. He modernized the building and put in his artillery. Torrione is in excellent condition. In 1834 the coffee maker Donato Perghem became the owner of the structure. Part of the walls were thinned out and raised. The structure was made similar to a house thanks to the many openings. At the top was built the roof with a lantern in liberty style. Donato Perghem turned the tower into a cafeteria. At the end of the 18th century, Giacomo Garbari left for eternity Torrione to the Crosina Sartori Cloch Foundation, which supports with different projects the children in need.
Il Torrione is preserved in an excellent condition even if it was again modified around the '800, along with most of the city, part of the walls and the door were demolished and the structure was made similar to a house thanks to the opening of many windows. At the top, the conical roof was replaced by a roof made of tiles with a liberty style lantern in the center. Not to mention the 1834 when the "coffee maker" Donato Perghem became the owner of the structure turning it into a cafeteria and carrying out a radical restructuring that included the raising and thinning of the walls.
